Project Overview
Coin Street Community Builders, a long-standing social enterprise and development trust on London’s South Bank, commissioned us to carry out stakeholder research as part of their 40th anniversary celebrations. Coin Street has grown into a recognised model for urban community development, offering co-operative housing, green spaces, arts and leisure venues, family services, and a diverse programme of community activities.
This project seeks to explore how residential and commercial tenants, service users, and visitors perceive Coin Street and its work. The insights generated will help shape future community engagement, communications, and marketing strategies to ensure they remain responsive to evolving stakeholder needs.
Our Role
At Mapping for Change, we are leading the design and delivery of a comprehensive mixed-methods research process. Using our expertise in participatory research, evaluation, and community engagement, we are connecting with a wide range of stakeholders to:
Gauge satisfaction levels among residential and commercial tenants
Assess awareness and understanding of Coin Street’s services and activities
Explore community sentiment and perceptions of organisational responsiveness
Understand whether stakeholders view Coin Street as a passionate and committed community partner
To do this, we are using a range of accessible engagement tools, including online and printed surveys, focus groups, targeted meetings, and pop-up events in public spaces.
Focus Areas
The research is structured around five core themes:
Theme | Research Focus |
|---|---|
Satisfaction | How satisfied are different stakeholders with Coin Street’s services and support? |
Awareness & Knowledge | What do people know about Coin Street’s work and impact? |
Sentiment | How do stakeholders feel about the organisation and their interactions with it? |
Responsiveness | Is Coin Street perceived as meeting the needs of its community? |
Perceived Passion | Do stakeholders view Coin Street as mission-driven and community-centred? |
Impact and Outcomes
We will analyse the data, identify emerging themes, and develop practical, evidence-based recommendations to inform Coin Street’s communications and stakeholder engagement strategy. The findings will help strengthen relationships with the people Coin Street serves and guide future planning.
As with all our projects, particular attention is given to amplifying the voices of underrepresented or marginalised groups. Our inclusive approach ensures that the resulting insights reflect the diversity of perspectives within the community.
